Romeo and Juliet, who's name in the path of Romeo and Julia Romeo and Julia is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, written at the beginning of his career. This tragedy tells of a pair of young brides who are in love, but they were stymied because the two families of mutual hostility. Romeo and Julia was initially a tragic romance in ancient times. The story of Romeo and Julia made based on the story in Italy, which was changed to rhyme in The Tragical History of Romeus and Julia by Arthur Brooke in 1562, and retold in prose in Palace of Pleasure by William Painter in 1582. Shakespeare borrowed ideas from both, but more developed supporting characters, particularly Mercutio and Paris, to expand the storyline. Written between the years 1591 to 1595, Romeo and Julia first staged in 1597.
Shakespeare uses dramatic structure. Effects such as changes between comedy and tragedy become heightened tension, the expansion of minor characters, and the use of sub-plots to embellish the story, has been hailed as one of the early signs of Shakespeare's dramatic talent. The drama is derived from various forms of poetry and character, which sometimes change the path of character development. Romeo and Julia have been repeatedly staged in the form of plays, films, musicals and opera. During the English Restoration, the play was revived and revised by William Davenant. David Garrick also changed some parts, and the adaptation of the opera by Georg Benda eliminate a lot of action and adding a happy ending. Appearances in the 19th century, such as by Charlotte Cushman, using the original text of Romeo and Julia, and more focus on greater realism. In the 20th century, Romeo and Julia have been adapted into various versions of films such as Romeo and Julia in 1936. In Indonesia alone, translation into Indonesian language entitled Romeo and Julia performed by Trisno Sumardjo.
The story, which takes place in Verona, starting with the battle on the road between Montague and Capulet families. Meanwhile, the family of Montague, Benvolio talking with his cousin Romeo, Lord Montague's son, about Romeo's melancholy. Benvolio then find out that the cause is due to Romeo's infatuation with Rosaline, one nephew of Lord Capulet. The help of Friar Laurence, who wish to reconcile the two families united through their children, Romeo and Julia were married in secret on the next day.
Julia's cousin, Tybalt, who knew that Romeo had sneaked into the Capulet ball, challenge him. Romeo, who considers Tybalt as his brother, refused to fight. Mercutio is offended by the vulgarity and then fight with Tybalt Tybalt on Romeo's behalf. Mercutio mortally wounded when Romeo tries to stop the fighting. Feeling guilty, then Romeo kills Tybalt.
Romeo Montague agreed that the action executes Tybalt is a sister act. Prince of Verona and dumped Romeo from Verona. Then Romeo secretly spends the night in Julia's room, where they complete a marriage. Lord Capulet, who misconstrue Julia's grief, agrees to marry her to Paris and threatening to not acknowledge it as a child if she refuses to marry Paris. Julia asked for delayed marriage, but her mother refused.
She then went to Friar Laurence for help, and he offered him a drug that will make it a coma. [4] Friar promises to send messages about the plan to Romeo, so that he can meet with Julia when she was awake.On the night before the wedding, she took the drug, and then laid in the family cemetery after her family discovered she "died".
However, the messenger did not reach Romeo, and he received information from his servant Balthasar that Julia died. Heartbroken, Romeo bought poison from the Apothecary, and then went to Julia. He met with Julia Paris's wake. Romeo thinks as a vandal, Paris attacked him, then Romeo kills Paris succeeded. Still think that Julia had died, he drank the poison. She then woke up and saw Romeo dead, so he committed suicide with a knife. Both the family and the Prince saw Paris, Romeo and Julia died. Friar Laurence then retell the story of Romeo and Julia. Capulet and Montague family then agreed to end hostilities between them.
